"A glass pitcher, a straw basket, a shawl woven of rich wool.... Their beauty is inseparable from their function. Hand-crafted objects belong to a world that existed before the separation of the useful and the beautiful."  Octavio Paz

We've always enjoyed Pat Hill's charming coffee mugs. Like natural coffees they present a boldly exotic face, full of character. Their shape is comically irregular yet each stands solidly upright with inner dignity. We like the feel of the rounded unglazed base as it snuggly fills the palm. The inside and rim are glazed in earthy tones, the outsides festooned with whimsical insignia or mystical fauna.

Charming vessels for a workingman's tonic.
